July 9
Rain.
Hail.
Lightning.
Thunder.
Wind.
All at separate times.
And then all combined and coordinated together.
Yesterday was a little bit of rain coming over Douglas pass.
Patches of it here and there.
Today...
Ten miles from Delta it hit.
And hard.
It actually hurt as it pelted against all the rain gear I had put on just minutes before.
And had gotten the two panniers on the bike covered as well.
And you know what I did?
I cried unto the Lord with both astonishment and thanks.
I realized that in such a ferocious storm I am still and always protected by His hand.
His glory still surrounds me.
His testimony to my life is still evident.
Even if I can not see it all for having my eyes open.
As I was waiting in a small turnout by the side of the road, I noticed a camper/trailer had pulled to the side of the road not to far in front of me.
I asked the Lord if I was to continue on and in a odd kind of way, was told yes.
So putting my feet on the pedals I began to crank forward.
And there was a lady walking in the rain in my direction.
She and her husband live in Delta and wondered if I needed a ride.
I looked and it appeared as if the storm, the majority of it, had passed over.
I asked him what he thought.
He agreed.
I sure hope I did not offend them by declining their offer of a ride.
But, this was something I had to conquer.
To go through that storm.
All the way.
To let the enemy, that foul mouthed, evil misfit, know that my security, my power, my strength, my protection, is in Christ my Saviour.
As I began to pedal, the rain stopped.
Awesomeness to God.
Sure, I was drenched.
I was cold.
I was all of those physical feelings that none of us like to be.
I wish you all could have been beside me as I came down into Delta.
Laughing.
Almost to the point of crying.
Shouting praises.
And to think, many times before on this journey, I wanted to take the bike, toss it and all the other equipment, and call it finished.
Quits.
No more.
Yet....
That was not to be.
God enabled.
And together we made it through the storm.
oh....
That is not the end of the story for this day.
The couple who stopped, said to check into the first motel on the right as you come into town.
Good place to stop.
Glad I took their advice.
Again, as has happened before, clothes are scattered about drying.
God is good.
All the time.
Thanks for all your prayers.
D.
